Abstract:

The Android ecosystem, connecting over 3.5 billion users, presents an unparalleled challenge in maintaining security and trust at massive scale. This presentation outlines Google's multi-layered defense architecture and strategy to proactively protect the platform from a continuously adapting threat landscape. We will discuss engineering and research opportunities/commitment to combat evolving abuse vectors, including sophisticated malware and the threat acceleration posed by Generative AI.

Bio:

Khawaja Shams is a Senior Director of Engineering at Google, where he leads the Android Ecosystem AI Safety teams. His organization focuses on AI agent safety, malware prevention, and the automated detection of adversarial developer accounts, complex content and privacy abuse.
