As we celebrate 50 years of computing education in Singapore, the School of Computing (SoC), Office of Alumni Relations and NUS Lifelong Learning for Alumni invite you to an evening of thought-provoking talks. Gain insights into how individuals and organisations can thrive in the age of AI and discover emerging technologies that connect with us in more human-like ways with the following talks:
Thriving in the Era of AI by Dr Tok Wee Hyong
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping how we work, create, live, and play. This session takes you through the evolution of AI, highlighting its transformative impact on industries and everyday life. At the heart of successful AI implementation lies quality data, and we will explore key innovations in Data and AI, share best practices, and uncover how organisations and individuals are using AI to unlock new value and deliver differentiated, AI-powered experiences. To succeed in this era, adaptability, a growth mindset, and a 'learn-it-all' attitude are essential.
Beyond Computers: Tech that Sees, Feels and Remembers with You by Associate Professor Suranga Nanayakkara
Imagine technology that doesn't just sit on your desk or in your pocket but becomes a helpful extension of you. This talk explores exciting breakthroughs in Assistive Augmentation: smart tools designed to support people with impairments and even enhance how we all sense, think, and interact with the world. Beyond coding, creating these innovations requires empathy and thoughtful design. Discover solutions like 'AiSee,' enabling the visually impaired to access information by pointing at objects, and 'MuSS-Bits,' which lets the hearing-impaired experience music through touch.
