Abstract:
Jilin University, located in Changchun City, Jilin Province, was founded in 1946. It is a key comprehensive university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, and strongly supported by China’s “Project 211” and “Project 985”. In 2000, Jilin University merged with the former Jilin University of Technology, the former Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences, the former Changchun University of Science and Technology and Changchun Institute of Posts and Telecommunications. In 2004, the former University of Military Logistics also joined.
The College of Computer Science and Technology (CCST), Jilin University, was founded in 1976 by Academician Xianghao Wang, a famous educator, mathematician and computer scientist. It is one of the earliest units to carry out computer science teaching and research in China.
The college has 12 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, including 1 Key Laboratory of the Ministry of education, 1 Key Laboratory of national defense science and technology of the Ministry of education, 1 Engineering Center of the Ministry of education, 2 key laboratories of Jilin Province, 2 engineering research centers of Jilin Province, 1 science and technology innovation center of Jilin Province and 1 Key Supporting Technology Engineering Laboratory of Jilin Province. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, Jilin data and application center of high-resolution earth observation system of national defense science and Engineering Bureau, Jilin key supporting technology Engineering Laboratory of e-commerce and Jilin high performance computing Engineering Research Center (Jilin University) and other scientific research platforms were added; at the same time, big data science and technology Research Institute of Jilin University and intelligent ocean research center of Jilin University were built Level of scientific research platform.
Biodata:
Prof Wei Xiaohui is Professor and Dean of the College of Computer Science and Technology (CCST), Jilin University. He is also the director of High Performance Computer Center in Jilin University.
Prof. WEI Xiaohui’s research interests are in the area of large-scale distributed computing systems, which ranging from grid computing, cloud computing and data centers. Recently, he’s been focusing on HPC infrastructure based on virtualization technologies and data management in large-scale data centers. He also committed to apply theoretical results into practice and building useful tools to help solving both scientific and industrial HPC issues, such as biomedical and numerical simulation for multiphase flow and solid mechanics. He has published more than 70 academic papers, obtained 1 U.S. patent grant and 11 National Invention Patents, co-authored 2 books (one in English), 2 National Planned Textbooks (Higher Education Press).
