Along with massive available social data and increasingly computational nature of social science, researchers have been interested in predictive modeling such as predicting behaviors of interconnected individuals on a network. Here I will provide a summary on popular methods leveraging social network effects. In essence, I will present three major approaches to incorporate network graph G to predict individual attributes or behaviors, namely structure-based approach, effect-based approach and measurement-based approach. I will identify challenges and opportunities associated with realistic constraints for each approach.
