ABSTRACT:
Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA), a method that aims to study configurations of cases by using set theory and computer algorithms, has drawn increasing attention from strategy and management researchers in recent years. IS researchers also have started using QCA for their studies because of its capability of investigating complex contingencies between IT artifacts and other factors. This teaching seminar aims to provide a brief introduction of this method by explaining its history, presenting a simplified step-wise guide for utilizing the method, and offering a short checklist for IS scholars who consider QCA as their main/post-hoc data analysis method.
