Abstract:

Social Networking platforms are one of the top trafficked online destinations and have recently surpassed search engine and shopping sites in terms of usage, engagement and popularity. It is now time to raise a question: are people who are actively and collectively creating values into popular social networking platforms fairly compensated for the values they are creating? How do we quantify the values users created and what is a fair way to reward them? What else can users gain if we change the way values are recognized and distributed on social networking platforms?

For business social networking platforms, this change will be even more evident and impactful. We want to address online identity and data property rights and how this will eventually help everyone advancing her/his own career.

Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend.
