Abstract:

PPDAI is a leading fintech company in China (NYSE: PPDF). Founded in 2007 as the first Chinese online peer-to-peer lending platform, it has more than 85 million registered users and has transacted more than 130 billion RMB in loan amount. It focuses on serving the financially-underserved, those who do not have credit bureau data. Every month, around 2 million loans are transacted through PPDAI. Dr. Gu will introduce Fintech landscape in China, PPDAI's business model, challenges, and how AI and data drive business and create tremendous value.

Biodata:

Dr. Ming Gu is the Chief Data Officer at PPDAI (NYSE: PPDF) and Dean of Smart Finance Institute of PPDAI. He received his B.S. in Computer Science from Grinnell College and his PhD. in Computation and Neural Systems from California Institute of Technology. He has more than 14 years of experience in data analysis and machine learning. He worked at Opera Solutions, a Big Data analytics firm based in San Diego, where he provided quantitative analytics and modeling solutions to a variety of clients, including commercial banks, investment banks and private equities. At PPDAI, Dr. Gu played a key role in establishing Magic Mirror, the firm's credit and risk pricing system. He was elected into the "Hundred Talents Program" by Shanghai Pudong District Government.
