closeAbstract:
The computer is the window through which we interact with an increasingly digital world. It is a medium for people to interact with data, computation, and people. Current tools, however, are usually designed for the lowest common cross-section of user, offering limited capabilities, expressiveness, and flexibility. In this talk, I present an overview of the work we do in the DIVA group to increase the interactive bandwidth of the tools we use everyday: developing new interaction paradigms that enable human and machine to work better together, to help users better master powerful interfaces, and to adapt software to an individuals' own needs.
