ABSTRACT:

User entity resolution is the process by which various aliases of a user in information systems are identified. Identification of aliases is vital in information systems as such detection would be required for legal considerations, platform policies or to facilitate merging of datasets for better service provision and analytics. Since current research on general entity resolution cannot be directly applied to the context of user entity resolution to achieve better results, in this research study, it is proposed to develop a unified approach for user entity resolution that could be followed in diverse use cases of user entity resolution. The proposed approach will be developed upon reviewing the current literature on entity resolution and extending the work to aspects unique to data associated with users but currently not fully exploited in entity resolution research.
