Abstract:

Dr. P. Anandan is a renowned researcher in the field of computer vision. In 2014, P. Anandan became Managing Director of Microsoft Research Outreach responsible for MSR's academic engagements and collaborative projects around the world. In this talk, Dr. Anandan will share the mission of Microsoft Research, as well as how research transfers innovative technologies to Microsoft's products; ensuring the competitive advantage and growth of Microsoft products, and computing disciplines.


Biodata:

Dr. P. Anandan is a renowned researcher in the field of computer vision. In 2014, P. Anandan became Managing Director of Microsoft Research Outreach responsible for MSR's academic engagements and collaborative projects around the world. Prior to this he founded and managed Microsoft Research India from its inception in 2005. From 1997-2005 Anandan was a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research, Redmond, USA where he built and led one of the world's strongest research teams in computer vision. His earlier career includes being an assistant professor of computer science at Yale University and a research manager at Sarnoff Corp, Princeton, NJ. Anandan holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a Master of Science from University of Nebraska, Lincoln and an undergraduate degree from IIT Madras. Anandan is a recipient of Distinguished Alumnus awards from UMass, Amherst and IIT Madras and has been inducted in the Nebraska Hall of Computing.
